Michael Hansen began his career at Nordisk Film, Denmark, in 1997, working his way up from assistant camera to head Director of Photography. During this period, his credits serve well over 40 documentaries.
In 2002, Michael was accepted to The American Film Institute's prestigious cinematography program (MFA). He graduated with his thesis film, THE LAST FULL MEASURE, directed by Alex Kerry. The film premiered at the 2004 Cannes Film Festival, screened in 2005 Sundance.
After AFI, Michael Hansen began working extensively as a director of photography in Los Angeles and Europe. Some of his credits include work for Grammy Award-winning Eminem, Chris Brown, Randy Travis & the late Kobe Bryant (NIKE).
As a natural creative progression, Michael Hansen began approaching a parallel career as commercial director and teamed up with longtime collaborator Tue Walin Storm forming the commercial directing duo Storm/Hansen. Their first job was a music video for the band Raveonettes and received international recognition after a nomination for "Best international music video" at the American MVPA.
In 2015 Storm/Hansen was signed by US media giant RADICAL MEDIA to join their impressive roster of directors. Since then, they have directed numerous US & Global campaigns for FORD, JAGUAR, NISSAN, PIRELLI. They were recently awarded 2 Gold Addys for their work on the Global CHASE BANK campaign, GLORIA.
When Michael is not directing big ad campaigns worldwide, he spends his time developing & writing on long-form formats, slowly advancing into the fiction world. His first script, ANGELS, written together with Tue W. Storm, was instantly picked up by CAA. They were recently hired to co-write an episode for an upcoming TV show created by longtime collaborator Nicolai Fuglsig (12 STRONG). They also directed 2nd unit for his recent Sci-fi action Drama, GUN DOG - currently in post-production.
Michael was recently accepted by the director's guild of America and joined the writers guild of Denmark. He plans to direct the feature film ANGELS and currently in development with his original scripted series, MEN OF THE SEA, together with Oscar-winning producer Kim Magnusson, Tales Inc.
